About JSD

The Jay School Department is a department of the Town of Jay. Three schools serve a student population of 776 students on a centralized campus. All buildings are located within a close proximity of each other.

Jay School Department Buildings

Jay Elementary School provides a personalized early childhood experience. Through a partnership with Head Start, a comprehensive pre-k program is provided. Teacher / student ratios are very favorable and there is a full range of services including Spanish instruction.

     Jay Middle School

     Jay Middle School serves 266 students with a full-service program offering. Grades four to eight are located at JMS. The atmosphere at this school is student centered and personalized. JMS has a full-sized sports facility, fully equipped science labs, a greenhouse, and excellent technology. All students at JMS have a personal laptop computer.

     Jay High School

With a student population of 248 students, Jay high school is a relatively small high school. Founded in 1924, the Jay High School is a comprehensive school that offers a traditional and varied curriculum, as well a sports and activities. The high school has approval status by the New England Accreditation Association of Schools and Colleges.

There is a range of courses that include college preparatory classes, and pre-vocational offerings, robotics, band, and fine arts courses geared to student interests. All students at JHS have a laptop computer and there is excellent technology in the building.

There is a full partnership with Foster Technology Center in Farmington where Jay students access a full range of vocational programs.
